The Laytonville Warriors kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were beaten by Point Arena 79-18. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Laytonville in their matchups with Point Arena: they've now lost five in a row.
Fernando Lopez went supernova for Point Arena, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lopez has scored at least 25% of Point Arena's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dauki Bechtol, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Laytonville's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Point Arena, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Laytonville will head out on the road to face off against Calistoga at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Point Arena, they will be playing at home against Technology at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Technology comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
