South Central is 0-5 against Corydon Central since May of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rebels will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as South Central comes in on six and Corydon Central on three.
South Central's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Cannelton as they made off with a 13-0 win.
Delaney Pennington was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Abby Roy, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Corydon Central won against Salem on Thursday with two runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Panthers beat New Albany by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1.
Madison Garretson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Meghan Logan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kynlee Mader, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
South Central's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Corydon Central, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Corydon Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. South Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Corydon Central, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will South Central keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
South Central suffered a grim 24-0 defeat to Corydon Central when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
