The Lakes Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Silas Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Lakes took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over Mount Tahoma. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lancers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Quinn Stout made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). That hit marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miley Graulau, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. Mercy Chukwu was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Lakes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .839. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Silas hadn't done well against North Thurston recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Silas came out on top in a nail-biter against North Thurston, sneaking past 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Silas has posted since April 22, 2024.
Like Lakes, Silas also got a great game from a two-way player: Natalie Medalia. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off ten hits. Medalia was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Bailey Brunk was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Tatum Butterfield, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Silas now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lakes, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
Lakes came up short against Silas when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 11-7. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
