Stanwood will be up against a hot Kamiak squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Kamiak never let Lynnwood get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Friday. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.
Gabby Veighey made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Veighey was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Akemi Kolar and Synclair Mawudeku did most of the damage at the plate: Kolar scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Mawudeku scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Emma Stansfield, who went 2-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Kamiak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Stanwood put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Mount Vernon with a sharp 9-0 victory.
Rubi Lopez was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Reagan Ryan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
Kamiak's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Stanwood, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kamiak hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .413. However, it's not like Stanwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kamiak took their win against Stanwood in their previous meeting back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 8-1. Does Kamiak have another victory up their sleeve, or will Stanwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
