Even though the Marietta Blue Devils have not done well against the Douglas County Tigers recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Marietta was the clear victor by a 62-38 margin over Douglas County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Marietta.
Marietta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Frances Storey led the charge by scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Day, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Douglas County's loss came despite strong showings from Reagan Freeman and Oddyssey Murray. Freeman scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, while Murray scored seven points along with nine rebounds. Freeman hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.
Marietta has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Douglas County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Marietta and East Paulding will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. East Paulding will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 410th, while Marietta is ranked 56th). Douglas County and Alexander will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Alexander is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
