The Bennett Tigers pushed their score all the way to 68 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 80-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Middle Park. Bennett has not had much luck with Middle Park recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Bennett still got an impressive performance from Jayden Ivory, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ivory has scored all season. Owen Stiers was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Middle Park to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joey Gagnon, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Paugh, who scored 17 points along with three blocks and two steals.
Bennett has not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Middle Park, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-8.
Bennett will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. on February 12th. As for Middle Park, they will face off against Arrupe Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Middle Park is coming into the contest with three straight victories on the road, so Arrupe Jesuit is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
