The Hazen Highlanders were the 50-45 winner over the Bellevue Wolverines when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Hazen received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 67-48 to Bellevue. Hazen has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Hazen lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dakota Nap. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. Nap has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Makenna Garrett was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Hazen's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-11. As for Bellevue, they pushed their record up to 11-8 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Hazen does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bellevue won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lake Washington at 1:30 p.m. on January 27th. Lake Washington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.
