Basketball Recap: Trinity Comes Up Short

Trinity lost against St. Bernard back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Trinity Wolves had to suffer through a 71-41 loss at the hands of the St. Bernard's Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 785th, while the Crusaders are ranked 321st).

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryker Robles, who went 6 for 12 en route to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Robles has posted since back in December of 2024. Valen Vonmilhoan was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Trinity smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Trinity's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-11. As for St. Bernard's, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Trinity will square off against Mt. Shasta at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Trinity is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season. As for St. Bernard's, they will venture away from home to challenge South Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Bernard's is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
