The Williston Red Devils will head out to challenge the Union County Fightin' Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Williston is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Hawthorne on Thursday as Williston made off with a 16-1 win. While the Red Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Jacob Loock made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Braige Schneider was a standout: he scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Jude Bailey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Williston hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hawthorne struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Union County earned a 5-2 victory over West Nassau on Thursday. The five-run effort marked the Fightin' Tigers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Union County's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Erick Lasseter, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Union County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs over those games. As for Williston, their record is now 4-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Williston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Union County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Williston might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Union County when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Williston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
