The Oakland Charter Matadors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 56-33 defeat at the hands of Leadership Public Schools Richmond. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Oakland Charter of the 63-47 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.
Leadership Public Schools Richmond found their leader in underclassman Landon Grisby, who scored 23 points. Another player making a difference was Damien Carter, who scored 14 points.
Oakland Charter bumped their record down to 3-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Leadership Public Schools Richmond, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakland Charter will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Invictus at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. As for Leadership Public Schools Richmond, they will be playing at home against California Crosspoint at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
