Baseball Recap: Boise Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Boise and Kuna meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Brave took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kavemen. The Brave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Kavemen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Brody Newbery and Bo Schaaf did some serious damage despite the final result: Newbery scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Schaaf scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Boise is 4-1 when Newbery posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Michael Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Boise dropped their record down to 7-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Kuna, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Looking ahead, Boise will head out on the road to challenge Meridian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Brave are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Kuna, they will host Borah at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
