Wake Christian Academy will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Cary Academy, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Wake Christian Academy walked away with a 5-1 victory over Cary Academy on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Gavin Pacileo tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jeffrey Newsome, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Carter Collins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, High Point Christian Academy fell victim to Oak Grove and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 1-0. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
High Point Christian Academy also got a good showing from HUNTER KELLEY, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched.
High Point Christian Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Wake Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wake Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like High Point Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wake Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over High Point Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 5-1.
