It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Gulf Buccaneers can now relate to. They were beaten by Lake Wales 56-20 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Gulf can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Lake Wales is ranked 33rd).
Despite the loss, Gulf still got an impressive performance from Antonio Muniz, who rushed for 227 yards and two touchdowns. Muniz's longest rush was for an incredible 93 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Wales to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brycen Levidiotis, who threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns while completing 94.1% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of RaShad Orr, who rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
This is the second loss in a row for Gulf and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Lake Wales, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Gulf does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lake Wales will look to defend their home field on Friday against Leesburg at 7:30 p.m. Leesburg is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
