The Valley Center Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Goddard 65-59. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley Center in their matchups with Goddard: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Saner, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hank Welu, who scored 15 points.
Valley Center has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Goddard, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.
Valley Center will head out on the road to square off against Arkansas City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Arkansas City is on a six-game streak of home losses, Valley Center an 11-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Goddard will take on Andover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Andover knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Goddard likes a good challenge.
