Softball Game Preview: Union Academy Cardinals vs. Albemarle Bulldogs

Union Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Albemarle since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Union Academy will host Albemarle at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Union Academy has 14 straight victories, Albemarle has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Union Academy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Gray Stone Day 15-0. Considering the Cardinals have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Paisley Boatright was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Farmer, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI.

Boatright wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Union Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Albemarle fell victim to North Stanly and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Comets, falling 15-0. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Union Academy pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.the team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team won's by an average of 10 runs thus far As for Albemarle, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Union Academy took their victory against Albemarle in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 16-1. Will Union Academy repeat their success, or does Albemarle has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
