The Sanger Indians will take on the Memorial Mavericks at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Sanger's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Memorial's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sanger will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Saturday, then bounced right back against Muenster on Tuesday. Sanger blew past Muenster 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Leala Kloewer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tarryn Liechty, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 14 contests. Another player making a difference was Sophia Troegle, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Sanger was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They are undefeated (4-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Memorial sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Haskell on Friday. That's two games straight that the Mavericks have won by just one run.
Ella Gollihugh was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Ella Dawson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Memorial and bumps their season record up to 10-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Sanger, they now have a winning record of 6-5-4.
Sanger came out on top in a nail-biter against Memorial when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 1-0. Will Sanger repeat their success, or does Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
