It was a good run, but the Humboldt Cubs unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Mary's-Colgan. Humboldt lost against St. Mary's-Colgan in their previous head to head back in March of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 55-45 score last time.
Despite the loss, Humboldt still got an impressive performance from Sam Hull, who scored 13 points. The match was Hull's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Asher Hart was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Humboldt's defeat dropped their record down to 6-1. As for St. Mary's-Colgan, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Humboldt will challenge Fredonia on Tuesday. As for St. Mary's-Colgan, they will head out on the road to face off against Galena on Tuesday. Galena's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so St. Mary's-Colgan's offense will have their work cut out for St. Mary's-Colgan.
