The California Condors will venture away from home to challenge the Cypress Centurions at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. California's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Cypress' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
California's tournament run continued when they took on Alta Loma on Saturday. California fell just short of Alta Loma by a score of 4-3.
California got a good showing from Alexis Salas, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, California saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Skyler Minor also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Even though they lost, California hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Cypress put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Kennedy 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Centurions, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kylie Santander looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Sadie Sievers was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Makayla Bishop, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Cypress' victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 5.5 runs. As for California, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. California hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cypress struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
California was able to grind out a solid win over Cypress in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for California since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
