The Hastings Tigers were the 66-47 winner over the Columbus Discoverers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Hastings fell 58-51 to Columbus on Saturday. Hastings has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Columbus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Preston Hastreiter led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hastreiter has scored all season. Quinn Freshour was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Hastings' loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Columbus, their win ended a 12-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hastings will take on Norris at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Norris is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games. As for Columbus, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Gretna East at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Gretna East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
