Softball Recap: Owen Has No Trouble Against Draughn

After only one run in their last matchup, Owen made sure to put some runs up on the board against Draughn on Friday. The Warhorses blew past the Wildcats 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Warhorses, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sophie Neal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Neal was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Roland, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Hannah Norton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Owen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Owen has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Draughn, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Owen will face off against rival Mitchell at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Draughn is set to square off against their familiar foe Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
