Eagle River is 1-9 against the Cougars since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagle River Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Service Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Eagle River focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 on Friday.
Eagle River's game was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 42-35 to West Anchorage. Eagle River has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Eagle River got a solid performance out of Brooklyn Rollman, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Darby Buyse, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and eight steals.
Meanwhile, Service's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell to Bartlett 54-50. That's two games in a row now that Service has lost by exactly four points.
Eagle River dropped their record down to 1-9 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.9 points per game. As for Service, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Eagle River came up short against the Cougars in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 36-31. Can Eagle River avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
