The Academy Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher  on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Colorado Academy by a score of  61-59. The  loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for The Academy in their matchups with Colorado Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
 Despite the loss, The Academy still got an impressive performance from   Trey Boychuk, who  went 8 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assist. Another player making a difference was  Ian Lamar, who  scored nine points along with nine  assists and two  steals.
  Jason Bratis continued  his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Colorado Academy,  scoring 21 points along with three  blocks. That's the first time this season that  Bratis  posted two or more   blocks.  Michael Mckee was another key contributor,  scoring six points along with six  rebounds and three  steals.
 The Academy has  been struggling recently, as they've  lost ten of their last 12 games,  which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Colorado Academy, the  victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Academy will  square off against Forge Christian at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Forge Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than The Academy in Colorado (Forge Christian is ranked 17th, while The Academy is ranked 212th). Colorado Academy will be staying on the road  on Tuesday to face off against Manual at 7:00  p.m.  on January 30th. Manual has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 940 points over their last 13 games.
