The Westran Hornets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 57-48 win over Milan. Given Westran's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Milan is ranked 475th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Marshall Kitchen, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Trent Brandow, who scored 13 points.
Despite the loss, Milan still got an impressive performance from Ahmet Niasse, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 50% of Milan's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Weter, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Westran's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Milan, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Westran won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Paris at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Westran has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 263 points over their last four games. Milan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
