Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Legion Collegiate Academy). They blew past the Chambers Cougars 80-51 on Saturday. While the Lancers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Legion Collegiate Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aiyana Murrell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. Murrell continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Devin Long, who went 5 of 10 en route to 21 points and three steals.
Legion Collegiate Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Chambers, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Legion Collegiate Academy will host York Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Legion Collegiate Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully York Prep likes a good challenge. As for Chambers, they will venture away from home to square off against Sun Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
