Pisgah hasn't had much luck against North Sand Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pisgah Eagles will look to defend their home field against the North Sand Mountain Bison at 4:30 p.m. Pisgah has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Pisgah came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against North Jackson, falling 15-2.
L Mccrary was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. Those hits marked the first that he got this season.
Meanwhile, North Sand Mountain entered their tilt with Glencoe on Monday with six consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Bison have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Mikey Poss made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Jaxson Stiles was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Landon Keller, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
North Sand Mountain pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Pisgah, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pisgah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like North Sand Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pisgah might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from North Sand Mountain in their previous matchup last Saturday. Can Pisgah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
