Toby Sanchez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Aurora Central: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 4-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalai Bentosino, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Aurora Central is undefeated when Bentosino posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Eloy Sifuentes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
Aurora Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Adams City came up short against Gateway on Saturday, falling 14-4.
Adams City saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marcos LaCrue, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that LaCrue has brought in this season.
Adams City's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Aurora Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Adams City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Aurora Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. It's a different story for Adams City, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Aurora Central's hitters?
