The Bayfront Charter Sharks will take on the Liberty Charter Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bayfront Charter comes in on three and Liberty Charter on eight.
Bayfront Charter took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Sharks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cobras 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sharks have posted against the Cobras since May 2, 2018.
Daniela Figueroa made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Figueroa was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabriella Loera, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, while Liberty Charter put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Bonsall. The Lions were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Legionnaires. Considering the Lions have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Bayfront Charter, Liberty Charter also got a great game from a two-way player: Leah Urias. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Urias has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaiya McKay was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Makenna Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Liberty Charter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Liberty Charter's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Bayfront Charter, their win bumped their record up to 5-15.
Bayfront Charter couldn't quite get it done against Liberty Charter when the teams last played back in April as they fell 7-2. Will the Sharks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
