Basketball Recap: Aubrey Dominquez Key Part of a Team Effort in Lobos Win

Chaparral won the last time they faced Loretto and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chaparral Lobos took down the Loretto Angels 46-28. Given the Lobos' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 108th in New Mexico, while the Angels are ranked 877th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chaparral's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Dominquez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Dominquez has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 28 times she's played. Arianna Molina was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven assists and five steals.

Chaparral smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 14 consecutive games.

Chaparral has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Loretto, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaparral will square off against Goddard at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Loretto, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Immanuel Christian at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th.
