St. John Paul II and Rickards are an even 5-5 against one another  since February of 2017, but likely not for long. The St. John Paul II Panthers will look to defend their home field  on Friday against the Rickards Raiders  at 6:00  p.m. St. John Paul II is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4  runs per game  this season.
St. John Paul II easily dispatched Madison County on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. St. John Paul II fell just short of Maclay by a score of  6-4 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  defeat the Panthers have suffered  since April 2, 2024.
 St. John Paul II saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Jason Cantella, who  went 3-for-4 with two  doubles and one  RBI.  Levarius McClure II also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.
Meanwhile, Rickards never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Gadsden County 20-0. The  victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won four in a row.
Rickards got a  massive  performance out of  Manny Hernandez, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  triple. That's the most  hits  Hernandez has posted since back in April of 2024.  Chris Turner was another key player,  scoring three  runs and  stealing  Three bases. while going 2-for-3.
 Rickards was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .429. That's the best  batting average they've posted all season.
 Rickards' win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for St. John Paul II, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Rickards' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  St. John Paul II has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .436. It's a different story for Rickards, though, as  they've  only  averaged .362. Will they be able to contain St. John Paul II's hitters?
 St. John Paul II took their  victory against Rickards  in their previous matchup  back in February by a conclusive  15-3. Will St. John Paul II repeat their success,  or does  Rickards have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
