After four lead changes,
State College (Pa.) took the lead for good when
Andrew Kelly thew a touchdown to
Dan Fry with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Chambersburg (Pa.) 30-28 on Saturday.
The Trojans pulled ahead on a touchdown run by
Jamal Pickett, and subsequently went into halftime leading 14-13. The Little Lions took the lead for good with a Kelly touchdown pass to Fry in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, State College still trailed by 8 points going into the fourth quarter. But 17 points in the fourth helped SC pull out the victory.
Chambersburg's Pickett played well. The junior running back ran for three touchdowns.
Kelly stood out for the Little Lions in the win. The senior running back threw one touchdown, ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
State College also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 24-6.
The victory was a step in the right direction for SC, which was coming off a 32-7 defeat at the hands of Central Dauphin in its previous game.
State College (4-2) will play a Mid-Penn - Commonwealth game against Central Dauphin East next week, while Chambersburg (3-3) will take on Carlisle also in a Mid-Penn - Commonwealth game.
