James F. Byrnes is 3-0 against Hillcrest since October of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The James F. Byrnes Rebels will take on the Hillcrest Rams at 7:30 p.m. James F. Byrnes will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
With a playoff game on the line, James F. Byrnes rose to the challenge on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 44-17 victory over Dorman. The result was nothing new for James F. Byrnes, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Andrew Stevens was on fire: he threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a rushing score. Another player making a difference was Armoni Weaver, who picked up 156 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Hillcrest was able to grind out a solid victory over Nation Ford on Friday, taking the game 37-29. Given Hillcrest's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Nation Ford is ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Thomas Stanley was a one-man wrecking crew for Hillcrest as he rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Mcfadden, who picked up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
James F. Byrnes has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.9 points per game. As for Hillcrest, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
James F. Byrnes skirted past Hillcrest 31-28 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Will James F. Byrnes repeat their success, or does Hillcrest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
