The Irvington Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight loss. They were beaten by Moreau Catholic 100-66. While losing is never fun, Irvington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 905th, while Moreau Catholic is ranked 180th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Moreau Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Spencer Shonnard, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shonnard has scored all season. Dominic Walker was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Irvington's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-14. As for Moreau Catholic, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.
Irvington will look to defend their home court on Thursday against American at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully American focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for Moreau Catholic, Moreau Catholic and Newark Memorial will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Newark Memorial is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
