The California Grizzlies will square off against the Granada Matadors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. California is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
California barely beat Dougherty Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Grizzlies' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats an 8-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Grizzlies have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Gabriella Nudo, who gave up just two hits to keep Dougherty Valley off the board.

On the hitting side, California let Alina Curiel and Jayda Crosby run wild. Curiel went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Crosby went 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Crosby a new career-high. Kayla Steel also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
California always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dougherty Valley only posted an OBP of .120.
Meanwhile, Granada suffered their closest loss since March 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Dougherty Valley by a score of 6-4.
Kamryn Brannon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Delaney Aumua was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alicia Mitre, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
California pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Granada, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Granada's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: California hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. It's a different story for Granada, though, as they've only averaged .246. Will they be able to contain California's hitters?
California skirted past Granada 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
