The Lewiston Bengals lost against the Sandpoint Bulldogs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lewiston opened the new year with a less-than-successful 56-44 defeat to Sandpoint. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lewiston in their matchups with Sandpoint: they've now lost five in a row.
Lewiston's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Breanna Albright, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Albright hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Addy McKarcher, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Sandpoint got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brecken Mire out in front who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlie Banks, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Lewiston's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Sandpoint, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewiston will take on Post Falls at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Post Falls is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Sandpoint, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake City has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 606 points over their last nine matches.
