Decatur Heritage Christian Academy has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Tanner Rattlers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Decatur Heritage Christian Academy had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-46 win over the Hornets. That's two games straight that Decatur Heritage Christian Academy has won by exactly 16 points.
Meanwhile, Tanner had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They snuck past Sulligent with a 60-56 win. 60 seems to be a good number for Tanner as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Skylar Townsend and Matthew Fletcher were among the main playmakers for Tanner as the former scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals and the latter scored 16 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Fletcher scored 15 or more points. Elyjah Jones was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Decatur Heritage Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Tanner, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Decatur Heritage Christian Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Tanner in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 71-65 win.
