There's no place like home for The Cherokee Chiefs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road two weeks ago. They took down Volunteer 35-20 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cherokee also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Keelin Releford and Aden Parson, Volunteer certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Releford rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown, while Parson gained 36 total yards and two touchdowns.
Cherokee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. As for Volunteer, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherokee will take on Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Volunteer, they will head out on the road to face off against Grainger on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Grainger is ranked 273rd, while Volunteer is ranked 279th).
