The La Costa Canyon Mavericks will venture away from home to take on the Carlsbad Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. La Costa Canyon's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Carlsbad's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
La Costa Canyon will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Mission Vista on Tuesday. The Mavericks were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Mission Vista. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Mavericks' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Addy Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Mia Reynoso and Avery Walanski did most of the damage at the plate: Reynoso went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Walanski went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Walanski a new career-high. Chloe Bellman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
La Costa Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Carlsbad came out on top against Torrey Pines on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Lancers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Falcons 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.
Chloe Hernandez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Muro, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
La Costa Canyon pushed their record up to 16-8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Carlsbad, their record now sits at 5-13.
La Costa Canyon beat Carlsbad 5-0 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
