Governor Mifflin has gone a perfect 10-0 against Reading recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Red KNights at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Governor Mifflin came out on top against Daniel Boone on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Blazers. The Mustangs have beaten the Blazers the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blazers has come to flipping the script.
Meanwhile, Reading hadn't done well against Wilson recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Red KNights never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. That 11-run margin sets a new team best for the Red KNights this season.
Janser Paredes was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Reading is 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Paredes was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Frandy Ruiz, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Joset Pagan, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Reading was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Governor Mifflin's record now sits at 9-10. As for Reading, their record is now 8-9.
Everything went Governor Mifflin's way against Reading when the teams last played back in April, as Governor Mifflin made off with a 15-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
