Softball Recap: Gibbs Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Gibbs won the last time they faced Anderson County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Mavericks. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Malyiah Smith was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Maddi Whaley was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Gibbs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson County only posted an OBP of .100.

Gibbs pushed their record up to 23-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Anderson County, they moved to 18-10 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gibbs will face off against Alcoa at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.4, the Tornadoes 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Anderson County, they will square off against Scott at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
