Southern Fulton is 8-2 against McConnellsburg since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Indians will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Southern Fulton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
While Southern Fulton's win against Meyersdale wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Red Raiders on Friday. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly two runs.
The team relied heavily on Jett Burger, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Mann, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, McConnellsburg was able to grind out a solid win over Claysburg-Kimmel on Friday, taking the game 7-2. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.
Hoyt Glenn made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. McConnellsburg is undefeated when Glenn posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, Reese Alexander was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Kohen Hall was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
Southern Fulton's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for McConnellsburg, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Southern Fulton took their victory against McConnellsburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
