Chandler Banks was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Banks wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grant Jernigan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Cascade won against Richland on Tuesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Cascade put the hurt on Richland with a sharp 14-4 win. Fans of the Champions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Like Huntland, Cascade also got a great game from a two-way player: Jayden Hathcock. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Hathcock a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jaxson Milliken and Xykaiah Dixon did most of the damage at the plate: Milliken went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Dixon scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Thomas Demartelaere was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Cascade's record now sits at 3-0. As for Huntland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Huntland might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Cascade when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Huntland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
