On Saturday, the Batavia Bulldogs faced the Alton Redbirds in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Batavia took a  57-39 bruising from Alton. Batavia's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
 Despite the loss, Batavia still got an impressive performance from   Brooke Carlson, who  scored 16 points. Carlson scored a full 41% of Batavia's points, the fifth time in a row she's  earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was  Kylee Gehrt, who  scored eight points.
 Batavia's loss dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Alton, the  win for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.
 Batavia and King's Academy will face off  at 3:00  p.m.  on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Alton and Glenwood will face off  at 7:30  p.m.  on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Glenwood is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
