The Scott's Branch Eagles fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They had just enough and edged Bethune-Bowman out 30-27. For Scott's Branch, this counts as revenge for the 32-30 defeat Bethune-Bowman walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Scott's Branch can attribute much of their success to Siara Lundy, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lundy has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tavashia Scott, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Bethune-Bowman lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zaniyah Pelzer, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Cha'Myri Boneparte was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Scott's Branch's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Bethune-Bowman, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Scott's Branch will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Carvers Bay at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Carvers Bay presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Scott's Branch in South Carolina (Carvers Bay is ranked 101st, while Scott's Branch is ranked 217th). As for Bethune-Bowman, they will be playing at home against Branchville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Branchville comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
