Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Centennial Knights, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Cartersville on the road and fell 40-0. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Cartersville is ranked 23rd).
Hunter Campbell threw for 129 yards while completing 72.7% of his passes. Luke Singletary was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards.
Cartersville found their leader in underclassman Nate Russell, who threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing score. Jamauri Brice also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.
Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Cartersville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cartersville will square off against Eastside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastside is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
