Cole Mueller made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Sammy Roush was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Burress, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Blanchester hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Batavia unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 8-5 to Indian Hill.
Elliott Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Bryce Eads was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Blanchester's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Batavia, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Blanchester hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Batavia struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
