The Steward Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to Virginia Episcopal School 55-51. Steward was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Virginia Episcopal School apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.
Steward's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Gray, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ben Vaughn, who scored 12 points.

Steward has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Virginia Episcopal School, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Steward will take on Virginia Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Virginia Episcopal School, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Miller School of Albemarle at 6:00 p.m. Virginia Episcopal School has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 238 points over their last four matches.
