Baseball Recap: Essex Wins Going Away Against Colonial Beach

While Essex put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Colonial Beach. The Trojans put the hurt on the Drifters with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Essex let Keion Hence and James (Jay) Jeter run wild. Hence got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Jeter went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Essex is 4-1 when Hence posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Austin Parker was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Essex always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colonial Beach only posted an OBP of .286.

Essex is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Colonial Beach, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
