There's no place like home for the Franklin Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They breezed by Socorro at home to the tune of 72-43. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Socorro is ranked 816th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin was led to victory by Ethan Martinez and Jazhiel Herrera. Martinez scored 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Herrera scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Herrera is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Noah Hall was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Dominguez, who scored 15 points along with three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Delgado, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Franklin pushed their record up to 17-6 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Socorro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
Franklin will head out on the road to face off against Montwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Socorro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastlake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
