The Badger Braves had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They walked away with a 49-40 victory over Hubbard. Given Badger's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Eagles are ranked 617th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Badger's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabriella Miller, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Miller hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Avery Rice, who scored 11 points.
When it comes to explaining why Hubbard lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jillian Palumbo. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with five steals. Palumbo is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Khamyah Howell was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Badger's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Hubbard, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Badger will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Averaging 60.81 points so far this season, John F. Kennedy Catholic's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Braves better be ready for a challenge. As for Hubbard, they will be playing at home against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
