It was a good run, but the Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 63-55 to Central Falls. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Exeter-West Greenwich came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Warriors are ranked 30th).
Exeter-West Greenwich's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Hebert, who scored 21 points along with two steals. Hebert hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Emma Mears was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Exeter-West Greenwich's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Central Falls, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-7.
Exeter-West Greenwich will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Lynx at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Lincoln School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Monday. As for Central Falls, they will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
